Arrive in Amboise

Amboise is a town in central France’s Loire Valley. It's known for the Château d'Amboise, the grand 15th-century residence of King Charles VIII. The château features royal chambers, sprawling gardens and underground passageways, and the tomb of Leonardo da Vinci. Château du Clos Lucé is Leonardo's former home, where he lived until his death in 1519. It houses a small museum displaying working models of his designs.

Saturday 27th May 2017

Coalport, Shropshire to Medway Services (M2 J4), Kent to Amboise, France.
Details of our Travel
Travelling from Coalport, Shropshire to Amboise, France. Today we travel by coach from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, Shropshire the HQ of Tandem Experience, en route to Dover where we will enjoy a short ferry crossing to France at 11:10hrs. Then onward through a picturesque route to the central town of Amboise where we will arrive for an overnight stay in the three star Villa Belangio Hotel with a swimming pool.
As we will be arriving late afternoon we will be unloading the Tandems & Bicycles for their secure location and then retiring to our rooms to get ready to meet up for pre dinner drinks and a welcome by our Tour Leaders, Pete & Sarah Bird and then onto dinner at the Hotel.
Pick up and Parking Guidance
Pickup point 1 is at our HQ's in Coalport, Shropshire at 05:00hrs where free parking is available. Pickup Point 2 is at the Medway Services on the M2. For this stay the amount is payable at the meters on site. Pick up at Pickup Point 2 - Medway is 08:30hrs

Sunday 28th May 2017

Route passes the Manor du Clos Luce, the home of Leonardo Da Vinci and along quite lanes and the Loire à Vélo, part of EuroVelo 6 to cross the Loire at Blois.
Details of the Ride
The ride today is a relativly short one for us to settle in. We head for Châteaux Chaumont or Chaumont-sur-Loire, regarded by some as simply the best in the Loire. Here we have our picnic lunch.

Ride along both the Beuvron & Cosson rivers that feed into the Loire.

Arriving in Blois where Jean Eugène Robert-Houdin (1805-1871) was born. He is generally considered to have been the originator of conjuring in its modern sense, so if anyone has any tricks they would like to share, tonight would be the night!

Monday 29th May 2017

Heading south to visit the amazing Château de Chambord an expansive, 16th-century, former royal palace with multiple towers and 440 rooms! Then crossing the Loire twice to arrive at Orleans.
Details of the Ride
The ride today takes in the Château de Chambord along with some of the straightest roads on this tour.

Then back towards the Loire to Châteaud de Meung sur Loire and along the Loire following EuroVelo 6.

To arrive at the capital of the Loiret department and to allow a stroll before dinner.

Tuesday 30th May 2017

Our longest ride today to Briare. Following mainly quiet roads. Passing through Sully sur Loire.
Details of the Ride
Today almost all of our tour is on very quiet roads following both sides of the Loire

We pass through the beautiful Châteauneuf-sur-Loire with a giant rhododendron area and some remarkable trees. Lunch will be in the shadows of the Chateau of Sully.

Arriving in Briare where the Aqueduct carries the Canal latéral à la Loire over the River Loire on its journey to the River Seine. Try to sample the local wine from Côteaux de Giennois with your meal.

Wednesday 31st May 2017

Heading due south to La Charité-sur-Loire is a well-known 'book town', possessing some of the finest Romanesque art and architecture in Burgundy. Its priory church is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has been beautifully restored.

Details of the Ride
This route meanders its way hugging the Loire as it passes into the Burgundy Region, famous for it's . . . wine.

The route takes you through more wine making areas of Bonny-sur-Loire and Saint Satur and then onto La Charité-sur-Loire.

Thursday 1st June 2017

Final day heading south from La Charité-sur-Loire to Mornay sur Allier where we will load our Tandems and Bicycles onto the coach for our trip to Bourges.

Details of the Ride
The Velo Loire routes actually ends at Cuffy, due west of Nervers as there is no pleasent route into the city. We contiunue to meet our coach where we will load up for our final night in the city of Bourge. A City of art and history, Bourges is proud of its monuments, the Jacques Coeur Palace, the Saint-Etienne Cathedral – included on the UNESCO World Heritage list, its old streets and its half-timbered houses. Plenty of time to check out and the Hotel has an outdoor pool where if we are luck enough to catch the last rays of our holiday!

Friday 2nd June 2017

Bourges , France to Medway Services (M2 J4), Kent then onto Coalport, Shropshire.

Details of the Day
Travelling from Bourges, France to Coalport, Shropshire. Today we travel by coach en route to Calais where we will enjoy a short ferry crossing to France at 14:10hrs. Drop off at Medway at 15:00hrs to then make our way back to Coalport for !9:00hrs.

Once you're booking has been confirmed, your place will be reserved.

Then there will be two further payments of £598 required, one on 27/03/2017 and a month after on 27/04/2017.
